Two killed and armoury looted as Boko Haram attacks police station in Borno
Two officers have been killed and armoury looted as armed terrorists suspected to be members of Boko Haram invaded Jakana Police station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state.
The terrorists also set ablaze two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force and a motorcycle, even as some arms and ammunition were carted away by the rampaging insurgents.
Sources said that the terrorists stormed the Police Station at about 1 am, where they engaged the security agencies for about three hours, overwhelmed them, and fled at about 3 am.
The Executive Chairman of Konduga Council Area, Hon. Abbas Ali Abari confirmed the incident, but insisted that he did not have details of casualties at press time, even though, he said, “Yes I received a distress call that Boko Haram Terrorists attacked Jakana Police station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details I will furnish you.” The Chairman said.
Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State command, Nahun Kenneth, failed as he did not respond to phone calls or text messages.
