“This is so sad” – Tearful audio of EBSU student who killed herself over repeated failure (Listen)
A tearful audio recording of Favour Ugwuka, a final-year student at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), has surfaced. Ugwuka reportedly committed suicide after a lecturer repeatedly failed her.
On Wednesday, May 22, Favour ended her life after reportedly failing the same course throughout her university studies, which resulted in an extra year.
This prompted her grieving mother to bring the late student’s lifeless body to the school, publicly calling out the course lecturer, Dr. Enyi.
In a newly surfaced audio recording of the late Favour Ugwuka, she alleged that the lecturer failed her due to tribalism.
With tears, the late EBSU student reflected on her repeated failure of the same course by the same lecturer. She concluded that it was solely due to tribalism.
“I am tired of this school. Is it because I am not from Abakaliki or I don’t have any family here? What’s the meaning of this? After paying N130K make I con pay another one? Why will Dr. Enyi fail me after attending classes?
“Why will one person be the only one to fail out of how many lecturers who don’t even know my face. From year one till today, how will you be the only one? Me I don try, I will leave this certificate for una,” she concluded by bursting in tears.

A lack of adequate counseling and reporting mechanisms could contribute to harmful behaviors. The pressures and stigma around academic performance can sometimes drive people to desperate measures.
