Panic as over 100 hoodlums attack police station in Lagos (Video)

There was a palpable panic as hoodlums, numbering over 100 attacked the Ipaja police station in Lagos state.

The attack on Monday, May 27, 2024, led to an exchange of gunshots during which some of the hoodlums were reportedly killed.

Details of the attack are still sketchy at the moment however, it was learnt that many reinforcements of police operatives had been deployed to the area.

This comes three weeks after some youths and hoodlums clashed in the Ile-Epo, Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

The hoodlums, in the process, set some stalls crammed with goods on fire. However, the Lagos police after dousing the tension arrested over 50 suspects.

In a statement, police spokesperson in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin said;

“Following reports of clashes among some youths and hoodlums in the Ile-Epo area of Lagos State, the DPO Oke-Odo swiftly led his men to the scene, and have since restored normalcy. Over fifty suspects have so far been arrested while the shanties they occupied have been destroyed, effectively dislodging them.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni has directed the prompt prosecution of the arrested hoodlums and has equally warned that the Command would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the peace, in accordance with the law.

“Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), Area Commander Alagbado and other Divisional Police Officers under the Area Command are currently on ground to forestall further breakdown of law and order.”

More Police operatives have arrived the scene where hoodlums, numbering over 100 attacked the Ipaja police station in Lagos, on Monday, May 27.

The attack led to exchange of gunshots during which some of the hoodlums were killed.
