Nigerian chess guru and founder of chess in slum Africa, Tunde Onakoya, has remained unbeaten since he started his 58-hour longest individual in Chess Marathon aimed to break Guinness World record.

Tunde, who is known for his philanthropical activities across Nigeria, has played the Chess game for 17 hours, winning all opponents including US national chess master, Shawn Martinez.

He started the game with Shawn Martinez, who is New York’s finest, best chess player, and beat him hands down after 5 hours.

The marathon, which is taking place at New York’s iconic Times square began on Wednesday, April 17 and is scheduled to end on Friday, April 19.

His aim is to surpass present Guinness World record holders, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad (Both Norway) on November 11, 2018. They played the Chess game for 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds.

Nigerians across the world have been cheering Tunde up as many visited Times Square to watch him play. Nigerian politicians, celebrities and dignitaries like Yemi Osibanjo, Tony Elumelu, Adekunle Gold, Funke Akindele and lots more drummed supports for him.

Via his X account, Onakoya stated that he is doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.
