A Nigerian pastor, Usman Samson, who heads the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has distributed foodstuffs and others to members amid economic hardship.

The pastor distributed bags of rice and yams to delighted church members after the service on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

This act of compassion had been extended to students in the previous week.

The church members have expressed gratitude and joy for the pastor’s kindness. This act of generosity has ignited a discussion about the role of churches in society, particularly during economic downturns.

While some pastors have paused the collection of tithes and offerings, recognizing the financial challenges facing their congregations, Pastor Samson’s approach goes beyond by directly meeting the immediate needs of his members.

The pastor has also received commendation on social media with many hoping for continued support in the future.

Jeffreys Franklin said; “Wonderful! bravo 👏👏👏. God bless pastor Dr Paul enenche and dunamites who has always contributed in cash and kind to help suffering people across the country.

Kingdom Mandate Channel wrote; “Love this, this is exactly what I was discussing with my fellowship pastor….. This time around you can use this to add up more souls in the kingdom.”

El Shegz Benefitboi said; “I’s long over due, these are things that was suppose to have been done a longtime ago. God bless them for the gesture.

Great effort from Dunamis church said; “Hope others that talk about their members giving tithes will emulate this kind gesture and service to humanity by the Dunamis church.”

Meanwhile, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Doctor William Folohunso Kumuyi, has advised Christians against giving their offerings to the Church but rather give it to the poor and unemployed in their communities.

Kumuyi made the statement in a video that has gone viral.

The pastor was heard telling his church congregation that Christians should not spend all their money on building churches but also help their poor neighbours who can’t afford basic life needs.

Kumuyi narrated how a preacher had instructed his members to give monies meant for offering to the poor and unemployed people around them.
