Woman Dies Following Acid Bath By Ex-partner

A 27-year-old Liberian, Watta Sheriff whose boyfriend wasted undiluted acid on days ago, has been confirmed dead by medical practitioners at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital where she was taken to seek medical attention.


The accident which occurred on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Lowah, Klay district Bomi county, saw the entire body of Watta Sheriff being deformed from the severe burn caused by the acid solution.

Watta who initially spoke to newsmen on her hospital bed at the Liberia Government Hospital in Tubmanburg, narrated that her former boyfriend only identified as Momo Konnah broke into her room at about 1:00am and allegedly wasted acid on her entire body for her refusal to continue their relationship.

She told reporters that for the past years she spent with Momokonnah, she was maltreated throughout, a situation that led to their separation because she was exhausted.

At the time, she called on Humanitarians to aid her. She rallied Liberians and the government of Liberia through the Liberia National Police to have the alleged perpetrator apprehended and face the full weight of the law

Police in Lowah, Klay District, Bomi County have launched a search hunt for Momo Konnah, who allegedly committed the act.

Following the incident, Amelia Johnson, the aunt of 27-year-old Watta Sheriff whose boyfriend wasted acid solution on her appealed to the government, and humanitarian organizations to assist the family in getting proper medication for their daughter.

“Yes, we need help for our daughter. Because her life at the moment is at risk because her entire body is burned up and we don’t have money right now to get the kind of medication she needs. We need the government and everyone to help us save her life.”
