A trader was burnt to death while recovering his property from his shop at the Gusau Central Market in Zamfara State, the Fire Service said on Wednesday, January 31.

A devastating fire outbreak has razed the market resulting in the destruction of numerous shops.

The fire, which started around 9pm on Tuesday night, engulfed the furniture section of the state capital’s largest market.

“We received a report of the fire outbreak and deployed our men to the scene,” he said.

“We were able to put the fire under control, but one person lost his life while trying to remove his properties from his shop.

“We are investigating to ascertain the cause of the incident and to determine the actual extent of damage,’’ Dauran added.
