‘Ballon d’Or & FIFA Best Award Losing Credibility’- Ronaldo Fires Shots at Messi
“Ballon d’Or & FIFA the Best Awards Are Losing Credibility” – Cristiano Ronaldo Fires Shots at Lionel Messi.
“Winning the Golden Boot is better than Ballon d’Or.” These words were fervently voiced by Cristiano Ronaldo after he won the Golden Boot in 2015, with Lionel Messi winning the other Golden Ball. While these claims of the past weren’t enough to create a lot of controversy, years later, the Portuguese superstar has again fired his critical remarks over the two biggest prestigious awards, including FIFA The Best, coincidentally when Messi again lifted both awards.
It also comes just hours after the Al Nassr star lifted the Globe Soccer Maradona Award. The victory came over the occasion of becoming the top goal scorer for the 2023 calendar year, thanks to a goal tally of 54. But it’s Ronaldo’s claims surrounding the Ballon d’Or and FIFA The Best, that are garnering eyeballs. He said, “The Golden Ball Award and THE BEST Award are losing credibility, and it is also difficult to score goals in the Saudi League, as is the case in the League and the English Premier League.”
Once again, Ronaldo has candidly offered his viewpoint on the current scenario of both iconic awards. Ironically, these awards were clinched by his long-term rival Lionel Messi, as CR7 wasn’t nominated for either of the individual accolades. Yet, he was able to get acknowledged for becoming the leading goalscorer. Of course, winning the Maradona Award also meant losing the Globe Soccer Best Men’s Player award to youngster Erling Haaland. Notably, Messi was also nominated for this award, but the Argentinian didn’t bother to fly to Dubai.
Another eyebrow-raising point that Ronaldo highlighted was the difficulty of scoring in the Roshn Saudi League, just like many players face in the renowned Premier League. These claims bring us to what CR7 has to say about Kylian Mbappe’s Ligue 1.
