Police chase, tear-gas UNILAG students protesting hike in school fees from N19K to N190K (Watch Video)
In breaking reports, some UNILAG students who were holding a protest over the outrageous hike in school fees from 19,000 naira to 190,000 naira have been chased and tear gased by officers of the Nigerian Police.
It’d be recalled that subsidy on education had been removed some months ago by the present administration following the introduction of student loan.
Following this move, federal institutions in the country have witnessed a massive hike in tuition, causing parents and students alike to express displeasure.
It was gathered that students of the university of Lagos had turned out in droves to protest the rise of their tuition from 19,000 to 190,000 naira.
The students who were seen holding up their placards and shouting out their demands were chased away and forced to disperse by police officers.
Videos online shows the moment some of the students were tear-gased and chased off.
