Popular Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola known by his stage name, Naira Marley, has advised the youths to shun drug abuse.

He made the call to young Nigerians during his visit to the Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) Brig.-Gen Buba Marwa, on Thursday.

Marley, who was nicknamed “Igbo labi” loosely translated to “marijuana born” for promoting drug use among other social vices in his songs, music videos and on the internet, stressed that abuse of drugs is dangerous to people’s health.

In a trending video, the ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’ crooner who visited the NDLEA headquarters in Abuja, added that the abuse of substance can also lead individuals to crimes.

Naira Marley said;

“You know who it is, it’s your boy Naira Marley, I’ll like to urge my fans – Marlians and all Nigerian youths to stop doing drugs because it’s not good for your well-being. Stop substance abuse of any form; I’ve keyed into this campaign to support the NDLEA to stop drugs on the streets. It’s not good, it makes you go back to doing crime.”

Reacting to the development, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, said; “See who’s on board @ndlea_nigeria War Against Drug Abuse advocacy campaign; it’s your favourite, Naira Marley.”
