Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he did not make a special request to be made a minister in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The APC chieftain stated this while granting interview to pressmen, as he claimed that Tinubu had been the one pressuring him to work with his administration.

He said that he had met the president 10 times and told him during each meeting that he is not interested in any government job.

El-Rufai, who spoke in Hausa language said he is too big for someone to be his godfather and stressed that he had repeatedly rejected the ministerial job.

“I met with Bola Ahmed Tinubu over ten times and told him that I do not want any government job. I do not want to work with him. He is the one pressuring me to work with him.

“I have been the one rejecting the offer to work with him. Wallahi tallahi billahi, I am too big for someone to be my godfather,” El-Rufai said in Hausa.

Recall that immediate past Kaduna governor was on the list of ministerial nominees comprising some former governors, that President Tinubu forwarded to the Senate few weeks ago for screening.

However, El-Rufai was not confirmed by the Senate over alleged security reasons as petitions had been filed against him decisions he took during his tenure as governor.
