Nigerian man hospitalized after being assauIted by his wife
A 56-year-old Nigerian man, Edwin Ugwu, has told an Ogba Magistrate Court how he landed in the hospital after being assaulted by his wife.
Edwin Ugwu, who dragged his wife, Ebere, to court, claimed that she assaults him at the slightest provocation.
The police prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, who confirmed this, told the court that the couple, who reside at Lambe Iluyomade Street, Ago Okota area of Lagos, had a disagreement that degenerated into physical assault. Ajayi said the wife assaulted her husband, leading to him being hospitalized.
However, the wife pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of assault and battery, and the prosecutor asked the court to set a date for hearing.
The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubenije, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to June 6th.
In other news, a 25-year-old electrician, Akonede Adekunle has been detained and accused of assaulting Miss Endurance Abah, his girlfriend because she cheated on him.
On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, he was charged and appeared before an Upper Area Court in New Karu, Nasarawa State.
Adekunle, a resident of One Man Village in Nasarawa, was accused of employing criminal force, assault, causing great bodily harm, and intimidation on four separate occasions.
However, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.
Inspector Christian Michael, a police prosecutor, said in court that the defendant hurt Ms. Abah, the victim.
He stated that the incident had been reported on May 4 to the New Nyanya police station in New Karu
