“Many people in government would’ve been sacked if Obi won” – Presidency Lament
The Presidency has said that if the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi or the Peoples Democratic Party flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar won the 2023 presidential election, many people in the current administration and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, would have been compulsorily retired.
Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu made the statement while receiving the Arewa Young Lawyers’ Forum, AYLF.
In a statement by Deputy Director of Information, State House, Patience Tilley-Gyado, Shehu noted that President-elect Bola Tinubu’s victory has established the dominance of the APC.
He said;
“In the hands of the opposition, many of the laudable programmes of the Buhari administration would have been sabotaged or unimplemented.
“An important and overlooked aspect of the Tinubu/Shettima victory is that it ensures, not only an orderly transfer of power from the outgoing administration to the incoming one, but also the safety of policies and programmes of the outgoing government.”
This comes days after Peter Obi vowed to explore all legal options to reclaim the people’s mandate.
The former governor of Anambra State gave the reassurance during an LP stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
President-elect, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared winner of the February 25 presidential election, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2nd and Peter Obi who came third.
The LP flagbearer in a post on his Twitter page, said the meeting with stakeholders was constructive and part of the topic of discussion was taking the party forward.
Obi wrote:
“Earlier, I interacted with the Anambra State Labour Party Stakeholders in Awka. The meeting was quite animated and constructive. Part of our discussions centred on the way forward for the party.
“I reassured them of my readiness to go all the way, explore every available legal option to ensure that we get our mandate back. I appreciated all their support so far, as I assured them of mine. PO.”
