Man beats wife to death in Adamawa over plans to marry another man

A 56-year-old man identified as Aminu Abubakar has been arrested by Adamawa police command for allegedly beating his wife to death.


Aminu reportedly assaulted his wife, Nana Fadimatu, after being told that she had concluded plans to leave him and marry another man in a neighbouring community.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje said the incident happened at about 10pm on Friday, May 5.

Nguroje said Aminu who lives in Lelewaji community in Shagari Phase 2 Estate, Yola South Local Government Area, attacked Fadimatu with a hard object which knocked her out. She was later pronounced dead.

The police spokesperson said the suspect was arrested by police officers from Shagari Divisional Headquarters after Fadimatu’s intended new husband, Mahmud Rufai of Shagari Annex, Yola South, filed a complaint.
