Keyamo raises alarm over alleged arrival of foreign lawyers in Nigeria to stop Tinubu’s inauguration
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has alleged plots by the opposition parties to use legal means in preventing the inauguration of president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu before May 29.
The Chief Spokesperson of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign in the 2023 election, expressed concerns after learning that some legal practitioners have allegedly been flown to Nigeria to do the job.
Keyamo, in a tweet on his official handle, noted that unscrupulous characters are taking advantage of those he termed “nitwits”.
According to the minister, the move and reactions that emanated from it is proof that illiteracy is a disease.
He wrote;
“I read somewhere that some supposedly learned fellow is assuring the nattering nitwits that the inauguration of @officialABAT can be legally stopped before May 29th and yet another story that some foreign lawyers have been flown in to achieve that purpose. And I read many excited reactions from these nitwits.
“Then I shook my head and murmured under my breath, ‘illiteracy is truly a disease and it is sad that some unscrupulous characters are taking advantage of these poor fellows”.
Meanwhle, the President Election Tribunal had fixed Monday, May 8, 2023 for the commencement of the hearing of the petitions filed by the opposition parties challenging Tinubu’s victory.
This comes days after Peter Obi has vowed to explore all legal options to reclaim the people’s mandate.
The former governor of Anambra State gave the reassurance during an LP stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
President-elect, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared winner of the February 25 presidential election, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2nd and Peter Obi who came third.
The LP flagbearer in a post on his Twitter page, said the meeting with stakeholders was constructive and part of the topic of discussion was taking the party forward.
Obi wrote:
“Earlier, I interacted with the Anambra State Labour Party Stakeholders in Awka. The meeting was quite animated and constructive. Part of our discussions centred on the way forward for the party.
“I reassured them of my readiness to go all the way, explore every available legal option to ensure that we get our mandate back. I appreciated all their support so far, as I assured them of mine. PO.”
