JUST IN: President-elect Tinubu returns to Nigeria after 10 days in Europe

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Nigeria from a trip to Europe where reports claimed he went to fine-tune preparations for his May 29 Presidental inauguration.


The President-elect arrived at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja today, Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The President-elect was received by the Vice President-elect, Kassim Shettima, Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Speaker House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and Godwill Akpabio among other high-profile party members and supporters.

The visit was said to be part of his efforts to fine-tune the transition plans and programmes, and his policy options with some of his key aides.

According to an earlier statement from the Office of the President-elect signed by Tunde Rahman, the trip became necessary to allow Tinubu carry out some tasks without unnecessary pressure and distractions.

“He will use the opportunity of the trip to finetune the transition plans and programmes, and his policy options with some of his key aides without unnecessary pressures and distractions”, Rahman had stated.
