R.Kelly sentenced to 20 years for child sex crimes while already serving 30 years
Veteran singer, Robert Kelly, better known as R. Kelly has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sex crimes by a federal judge.
This comes after a jury found that he had produced three videos of himself sexually abusing his 14-year-old goddaughter.
It will be recalled that the singer is already serving 30 years after a jury convicted him of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
During court, U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber ruled that Mr. Kelly would serve nearly all of one sentence simultaneously with a previous 30-year sentence which was imposed last year on racketeering charges from his Brooklyn case.

Leinenweber also ordered that Kelly serve one year in prison following his New York sentence. Federal prosecutors had argued that the 56-year-old deserved 25 years in prison on top of his earlier sentence. The singer’s “lack of remorse” was cited as a reason he would pose a danger to society if released.
