JUST IN: Man gunned down by girlfriend’s brother for refusing to leave her
A 30-year-old man, Michael Ogundele, has been arrested for allegedly shooting his sister’s boyfriend, one Tobi Olabisia resident in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Ogundele of Idiroko, said he shot the victim because he refused to heed his warning to stay away from her.
Police arrested the suspect on Friday following a report at Idiroko divisional police headquarters by a community leader identified as Alfa Akeem in Ihunbo town.
The State Police Command PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Sunday said that the complainant had stormed the police station with the victim to report the matter.
According to Oyeyemi, Akeem said he shot the victim because he refused to obey his warning to stop having love affair with his younger sister.
It was said that the said boyfriend narrowly escaped death, but he sustained injuries.
Upon the report by Alfa Akeem, the DPO of Idiroko division, CSP Ayo Akinsowon, was said to have mobilized his detectives to go after the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have warned the victim to desist from dating his younger sister, but he refused,” Oyeyemi stated.
The suspect had on the fateful day, he got a hint that Olabisi was sleeping in his sister’s room and he went there with a dane gun.
On getting there, the victim had jumped out through the window when he was shot by the suspect.
The victim was thereafter rushed to theGeneral Hospital, Idiroko, “where he is currently responding to treatment.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed the transfer of the suspect to the Homicide section of the State CIID for further investigation.
