Peter Obi Replies Man who Asked why he Allowed Health Workers to Strike for 13 Months in Anambra.
2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has decided to respond to the question of a Nigerian man about his lack of response to the 13 months protest that were carried out by the doctors in Anambra State when he was the governor of the state, and his plans for the health sector.
A Nigerian man identified as Dr. Henry Ewunonu had during the town hall meeting with presidential and vice presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, asked the businessman about how his administration will finance the health sector of the Nigerian economy.
The businessman in response to such question, revealedthat his administration will provide finance for the health sector through insurance.
Peter Obi was further asked on why he allowed the health workers in Anambra State to go on strike for 13 months.
And so, the presidential candidate in response to such question, revealed that when he came into power as the governor of Anambra state, many things were lacking in the health sector and he financed the sector for two years without any tangible result.
According to Peter Obi, he had to invest the money in building nursing and midwifery schools in the state with the assistance of the Bishop in the state, adding that the doctors accused him of not following the financial guidelines of the state during such period.
Peter Obi however, revealed that he ended up paying the striking doctors their money and the schools he built have graduated several nurses and midwifes over the years.
