South Korea forward, Son Heung-min has expressed happiness after his team defeated Portugal 2-1 in the World Cup group stage tie on Friday night.

Heung-min also warned Brazil that South Korea would do their best to beat them when both teams clash in the round of 16 on Monday.

A late goal from Hee-chan gave South Korea the victory over Portugal.

ā€œWe waited really long for this moment and we as players believed altogether we could do this,ā€ the Tottenham Hotspur star said at his post-match press conference after the game.

ā€œThere were moments when I was not able to do my best and I am thankful for my teammates that they were able to cover me in the moments I was not able to fulfil my duties and I am very proud of them.

ā€œAt first, I thought it was going to be a hard game and we expected it to be a hard game.

ā€œIt was really hard, but our players didnā€™t give up and we worked hard. We did well and I am proud of our players, they did well.ā€

He added, ā€œGoing into the round of 16 was our goal and now we have higher goals.

ā€œNo one knows the world of football, especially now, and since we have a chance to beat Brazil, weā€™ll do our best and prepare our best game.ā€
