One fan killed and young boy in coma following World Cup celebrations in Buenos Aires (Video below)
Argentina’s World Cup celebrations ended in tragedy with one fan dead and a young boy placed in a coma as players had to be evacuated.
The South American’s side first World Cup win in 36 years trigged scenes of ecstasy across the nation as they welcomed home their heroes.
Millions of people flooded the streets of Buenos Aires to celebrate Lionel Messi and his team.
However, The Sun reports that the scenes descended into chaos as fans attempted to mob the team bus, with some jumping off bridges to get aboard.
The publication says that health officials confirmed that one fan in his 20s died after falling through a roof whilst ‘jumping up and down’ while celebrating the parade.
In a separate incident, a young boy five years of age is in a coma after sustaining a head injury following an incident in Plaza San Martin.
A piece of marble reportedly fell from a monument during the celebrations and struck the child.
In one viral video, a fan can be seen leaping onto the bus from an overpass.

Argentina’s World Cup parade has been cut short after celebrations became chaotic and fans started jumping on the open-top bus from the overpass. The players instead flew over Buenos Aires in a helicopter following guidance from security forces.

But in scary scenes, the supporter loses his footing and falls backwards off the bus and into the sea of people.
In another clip, someone can be seen being wheeled away in a stretcher, although it’s unknown whether this was the same person who fell from the bus.
As a result, the victory parade was cut short.
The players had to be airlifted from their bus for their own safety.
A spokesman for the Argentina FA said: “The players of the Argentine soccer team ended the festivities by flying over in a helicopter over the crowd of fans who gathered in the city.
“They made that decision after verifying that they could not continue advancing by bus in the middle of the crowd.”
AFA president Claudio Tapia added: “They don’t let us get to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk.
“The same security agencies that escorted us don’t allow us to move forward.”
The Sun reports that 13 arrests were made in the city, while eight police officers were injured.
Argentinians came out in numbers to celebrate Argentina’s penalty shootout victory over France.
The game finished 3-3 after 120 minutes before the players eventually got their hands on the trophy after a tense and dramatic 4-2 shootout.
