“102 children, 12 wives and 568 grandchildren” – Ugandan farmer finally decides to stop adding to his family because his ‘income has become lower with the rising cost of living’
Musa Hasahya, 67, has 102 children and 568 grandchildren from 12 wives. He and his family live in Lusaka in Uganda where polygamy is legal. His wives are considering taking the birth control pill to stop the family growing.
A Ugandan farmer who has 102 children and 568 grandchildren from 12 wives has finally decided to stop growing his family. Musa Hasahya, 67, has now asked his wives to use contraception so that they can afford to buy food to eat.
He said: ‘My income has become lower and lower over the years due to the rising cost of living and my family has become bigger and bigger.

He said that all his wives live in the same house so that he can ‘monitor’ them, stopping them from eloping with other men.
His youngest wife, Zulaika, mother of 11 of his children, said:
‘I’m not having any more children. I’ve seen the bad financial situation and am now taking the birth control pill.’
About a third of Mr Hasayha’s children, aged between six and 51, live with him on his farm.
His eldest child is 21 years older than his youngest wife.
