A middle-aged Ghanaian man is said to have climbed a high-tension pole in Kasoa, a community in Ghana’s Central Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, his decision was made to protest the country’s current economic hardship..

In a viral video we saw, the man was seen quickly climbing the high-tension pole while bystanders begged him to come down.

A Ghana Police Service vehicle was also visible in the video, giving the impression that officers were on the scene to assist in getting the man off the pole before he jeopardized his life even further.

According to journalist Kwaku Asante, who shared the video on Twitter, the man climbed the pole because he was tired of life.

The video was shared with the caption;

“A man has climbed the High tension poles in Kasoa and according to eyewitnesses says he won’t come down despite the police on site. He says he’s tired of life and the economy.

Warning: the narrator uses some strong words.”

Some reactions the video got are;

@Cypherkajango – Sometimes we don’t need to call police in time of this. they cant do anything or help the person We just need to call fire service or respectful elderly in our communities to help. We Don’t know what going on in their if police come in.

@IamAtanga – People are going through a lot. Let’s pay close attention to those around us and try to share a worry or two.
