We Were Promised N800,000 By The Owners – 2 Men Arrested With 100 Bags Of Indian Hemp Tell Police
Nemesis has caught up with two men who were arrested with 100 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp by the operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command while transporting the commodity in Abuja, the command announced on Thursday, August 11.
In fact, during their arrest, the two men disclosed that the owners of the commodity, which was said to be worth N10 million, promised to give them the sum of N400,000 each for transporting the Indian hemp, totalling N800,000.
The two men, whose names were given as Sani Muhammed, aged 26 years old, and Ahmed Usman, aged 32 years old, were arrested with the commodity which they concealed under fertilizer inside a trailer belonging to a popular cement and fertilizer producing company (names withheld by me).
It was gathered that that operatives of the Operational Assets attached to the Zuba Divisional headquarters of the FCT Command intercepted the trailer and during a thorough search, the bags of Indian hemp were found concealed under the fertilizer.
According to a statement by the FCT police command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh and posted on the Twitter handle of the command on Thursday, during interrogation, the two men were said to have disclosed that they were taking the bags to the owners.
They added that the owner promised them the sum of N400,000 each to transport the commodity which was said to be worth N10 million.
According to the statement, the two men and the Indian hemp would be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while efforts are being intensified to arrest those behind the ownership of the commodity.
