Super Falconets sleep on floor, chairs at airport in Turkey (Photos)
In another demonstration of sloppiness and ineptitude associated with football administration in the country, members of Super Falconets, Nigeria’s junior female national football team have been shown sleeping on chairs and the floors of the airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
The players were on their way back home after they were their team was knocked out of 2022 Under-20 Women’s World Cup by Netherlands on Sunday at the quarter final stage.
Super Eagles former media officer, Colin Udoh, shared the photos of the players sleeping on the floor and chairs at the Istanbul Airport on his social media pages.
He said the players have been travelling from Costa Rica since Monday morning and had a 24 hour layover in Turkey.
The photos are now generating outrage among Nigerians on the social media.
Many wondered why the NFF did not deem it appropriate to put the players in hotels as they wait for their connecting flight.
Udoh said, “Nigeria’s #Falconets have been traveling from Costa Rica since 6:30am on Monday.
“They’re now in Istanbul on a 24-hour layover and sleeping on the airport chairs and floor, or wherever they can find.”.
