Senator Narrates How Wike Threatened To Kill Ex-Governor, Rivers PDP Leaders For Meeting Atiku
The former Senator representing Rivers South East, Lee Meabe has narrated how Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike threatened to kill former Governor of the state, Celestine Omehia, former Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austine Okpara for attending a meeting with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
The former Senator spoke in reaction to broadcast by Wike wherein the Rivers Governor threatened to Sanction the party leaders for anti-party activity (referring to their meeting with Atiku).
Lee Maeba who appeared in a programme by an online TV station said the leaders of the party went to meet Atiku “as part of solidarity visit,” to their presidential candidate.
“In that meeting, three things were discussed, Mr. President, we heard the outburst of the Governor on Friday, calling you a liar and calling you names, we believe that’s not our culture, that’s not in our character for young people to insult elder people.
“Number two, Rivers State have over 2 million voters and no person controls all these voters. All these voters by the new electoral act are free voters to vote for who they want and we believe because our party is in the majority in Rivers State, because our party is in government in Rivers State, we believe Rivers people will vote for our candidate without negotiations, so Atiku will win Rivers State without negotiations. So, nobody should threaten him that he won’t win Rivers State.
“That meeting was on Monday, by Thursday, the Governor has summoned all the Ikwerre leaders, called Autine Okpala and Omehia and told them they have no right to have gone to Atiku for a meeting of that nature without clearing from him. That they should be ready, that he will kill them and kill himself. He gave that threat and that if they don’t have a gun, they should go and buy gun.”
“…let me see how you can campaign for Atiku in this state. You can’t campaign for Atiku in this state without my permission. No one can work for Atiku in this state,” the former Senator quoted Wike to have said during the Ikwerre stakeholders meeting.
“On Sunday, he invited the leaders of Ogoni and told the member representing me in the House of Assembly to tell me that I can’t campaign for Atiku in this state. That he’s waiting for me and he will finish me and I should be ready for him that he’s ready for me if I campaign for Atiku.”
He pointed out that Austine Okpara and Atiku has been friends with Atiku since 1999 and primaries are over and the party should move forward adding that Wike has refused to accept that primaries is over.
“We don’t need another negotiation to support the candidate of the party. We have 50 candidates for election in Rivers State. As a party man, I have to campaign for all the candidates in the state.
