Woman Sends Other Mum Flying As She Battles For Gold At Sports Day

A competitive mum sent another mum flying as she battled for gold at sports day. You can see a video of this high-stakes sporting drama below.

We’ve all been there; seen the finish line in the distance and wondered how we could get there faster.

Well, turns out mum Katie McDermott, 25, works harder, not faster.

The mum was taking part in the parents’ race at her daughter’s sports day when things got serious.

The race was neck and neck between Katie and another mum, but when she realised she wasn’t going to win, she pushed the other mum out of the way.

As you can imagine, the woman went flying, and Katie won, but at what cost?

Turns out a pretty fair one, actually, because she was trying to keep a promise to her daughter.

Wonder if that excuse would fly at the Olympics?

Still, Katie didn’t realise quite how hard she pushed the other mum: “I told my daughter I would be number one, so I had to be!

“I could see she was winning – so I just gave her a quick nudge and she took off in the air.

“I don’t know what possessed me to do it, I was just thinking about how I wanted to win so badly!”

The mum went on to apologise: “I didn’t know the mum very well – everyone was shocked but we just carried on as normal afterwards.

“If you see this, sorry that I pushed you – I didn’t mean to send you flying!

“I don’t regret it, though, because I won!”

Still, Katie’s not the only parent taking the race pretty seriously, with a host of others taking to Twitter to comment on their race.

One user wrote: “Ah sports day when all the mums and dads get super competitive for the parent’s race hope the sun shines for you all.”
