Lucky Dube died suddenly on August 3, 1964, at the age of 43. Sadly, Lucky Dube was murdered by carjackers in Johannesburg, South Africa, on the evening of October 2007.
Prior to his partner’s sad death, the Rastafarian had already made 22 CDs in Afrikaans, Zulu, and English. After his mother had difficulty conceiving him and his parents split before he was born, she gave birth to him and called him Lucky.
The African king of reggae was shot and murdered by armed robbers in Rosettenville, Johannesburg, South Africa on October 18, 2007. It occurred shortly after he left the children with their uncle.
According to South African authorities, his car was specifically targeted by thieves. The thieves failed to recognize him, so they made a wild guess that he was Nigerian and shot him to death. Lucky Dube was shot many times and tried to escape in his car, but he slammed into a parked vehicle and then a tree
Five persons were arrested and charged with Lucky Dube’s murder, but only three were found guilty. A jury convicted Julius Gxowa, Mbuti Mabe, and Sifiso Mhlanga guilty on March 31, 2009.
Three offenders received life sentences. Two days after Lucky Dube was murdered, three more people were accused in connection with a carjacking that took place nearby.
Lucky Dube was a man of many talents, including acting and signing. The late Rastafarian appeared in several films, such as Lucky, Strikes Back, Getting Lucky, and Voice in the Dark.
