A TOBACCO farmer downed poison on Monday in an attempt to take his life after discovering love messages between his wife and a married security guard in Chatsworth.

Cosmas Makawanda was rushed to a clinic, after drinking the poison, over his wife Mouline Mutunga’s illicit affair with a security guard, Vincent Tipedze.

Mouline, a mother of two, packed her belongings, in the company of her parents, and an unidentified man related to Vincent, leaving Cosmas with one blanket.

After hearing about Mouline’s decision to leave their marriage of nine years, Cosmas rushed to his house, from the clinic, to try and stop her.

But, he was attacked by Vincent’s relative.

The case was taken to Chatsworth Police Station.

Cosmas told H-Metro he had no reason to live after discovering that Mouline had been dating a married man from their neighbourhood.

“I wanted to take my life for I saw no reason to live after discovering that my wife had been cheating for some time,” said Cosmas.

“The poison affected my sight and left my mouth with wounds. Their love messages showed that Vincent had plans to take my wife away and that they had been engaging in unprotected sex for some time.

“Mouline took US$350 and gave it to Vincent and they were planning to stay together using my hard-earned money.

“They have ruined my life and that of our two children.

“I learnt that my wife was taking away everything from the house and upon arriving I barred her team from taking the solar panels and one of the guys attacked me.

“It hit me hard to learn that he is related to Vincent and that proved to me that Mouline’s parents were aware of her illicit affair with a married man,” said Cosmas.

Mouline denied bedding Vincent arguing that their relationship was not romantic.

“My husband has been feeling jealous of me and would suspect every man he finds me talking to,” said Mouline.

“I decided to leave him because I could continue living in such circumstances where every day you get questioned about your movements.

“He found me with Vincent at a shop, where he was guarding and was quick to suspect that we were having sx since it was nighttime.

“I was delayed in travelling back home when he found us apa hamenowo zvima messages zvavarikuti vanazvo saka handingagarire izvozvo.

“I saved him from taking his life and he was unfortunate to be attacked neumwe muzaya wandanga ndinaye achindibatsira kutakura zvinhu zvangu.

“As for taking all blankets, leaving him with one, it depends on how many blankets he bought for us from selling tobacco.

“I worked hard to acquire everything at the house, that is why I wanted to take everything,” said Mouline.

Vincent could not be reached for comment.

However, in the love messages he exchanged with Mouline, he indicated he wanted her to leave her husband and stay with him.

Mouline, from the conversations, had agreed to leave her two children and husband.
