Just as you may have heard, the controversial Enugu Priest, Reverend Father Mbaka has stated that, the ex governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who is in the race to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023 can’t win the election.

In his statement at his private prayer ground (Adoration ground) in Enugu State yesterday, Mbaka was heard in a video saying that, Peter Obi is too stingy to become the president of Nigeria. He stated further that, it is better for an old man with good heart to become the president than a young man with stinginess.

Since the celebrated Enugu Catholic Priest made this statement yesterday, a lot of mixed reactions have been pouring in from all angles, with many, insulting the Reverend Father. It is on this ground that this article is out to spell out why no one should insult the man of God over his utterance ahead of the polls.

Just like many of us may have different opinions concerning those in the race to become Nigeria’s next president, Reverend Father Mbaka should also be allowed to air his thoughts on any of the presidential candidates without further insults on his personality.

We are in a democracy where freedom of speech is famously held in high esteem. This freedom of speech should not be limited to the commoners alone, but also be extended to all Nigerians irrespective of their social status, including the man of God.

Whatever he has said yesterday will hardly change the minds of those who have decided to vote for Obi in the election. Yes, he has predicted correctly winners of elections in the past, but that doesn’t mean that this will also go in his favor. Besides, this isn’t a prophecy, but a mere expression of his opinion.

To this end, insulting the man of God because of the statement could amount to committing a serious sin against the Holy Spirit and God himself.
