Terrorists, according to the federal government, are to blame for the South East’s rampant violence and fatalities.

Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, stated this at a ministerial briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Team at the State House in Abuja on Thursday.

Unknown gunmen killing innocent Nigerians in the South East, according to Dingyadi, are terrorists who are being dealt with harshly by the military.

The government’s intelligence community has been able to identify the unknown shooters creating violence in the region, according to the minister.

He said: “Okay, the unknown gunmen, you want to know who they are? I want to tell you that they are unknown gunmen and they are also criminals. They’re terrorists and we are dealing with them in the language they understand.”

Furthermore, the minister refused to provide any fresh information about the corruption charges against suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari.

According to the minister, he is unable to comment on the subject since it is pending in court and doing so would be considered subjudice.

Dingyadi also included the implementation of community policing, the resurrection of the police public complaints committee, enhanced police welfare, and the purchase of a special force facility in Zuba, Abuja, among other successes under his administration.
