SD Huesca reacts after sacking Nigerian midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali for playing at AFCON
In what’s now a back and forth between player and club, SD Huesca has reacted to the allegations made by Kelechi Nwakali..
Nwakali in a statement on Wednesday accused the club of treating him shabbily over his insistence on going to the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
The former Arsenal midfielder said the club deemed the AFCON as unimportant while he was punished for going despite their attempts to stop him.
Nwakali also accused the club of holding his salary back and stopping him from tending to his responsibilities.
He said he faced a tough time with the club and was treated differently and negatively..

SD Huesca in its reaction denied the allegations and said it acted in total conviction and respect for the player.
“In relation to the statements made by Kelechi Nwakali today after the early termination of the contract that linked him with SD Huesca, the club wishes to express its total rejection of their lack of veracity, all with the total conviction that the club has acted at all times with the utmost respect for the player.
“Although, and given the seriousness of some of the statements made in the statement, this club reserves the exercise of any actions it deems appropriate in defense of its legitimate rights and interests,” the statement read.
