JUST IN: Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Speaks On Why He Didn’t Attending Trial Today (Details below)
Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, on Friday morning said he won’t be attending Friday’s court session of his client in Abuja, because “urgent duties” called him to the East.
Newsbreak.ng reports that Ejimakor wished the rest of Kanu’s legal team, led by Mike Ozekhome (SAN) victory, while reiterating his loyalty to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader.
Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Raises Alarm Over IPOB Leader’s ‘Deteriorating Health’
“Umu Chineke. Urgent duties called me in the East. Duty to Onyendu #MNK. And duty to the #IPOB. So, you won’t see me in #Abuja.
“Good luck to us. We deserve to win. Because we’ve all worked hard for it,” Ejimakor wrote on his known Twitter handle.
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja is set to move the venue of Kanu’s trial to the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) headquarters in Abuja.
It is in reaction to complaints about the discomfort experienced during proceedings in Kanu’s treasonable felony trial, which usually attracts many security agents.
The decision is contained in a new set of Practice Directions on Hearing of Terrorism Cases, issued by the Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho.
The court’s spokesperson, Catherine Oby Christopher, said in a statement that the practice directions, to be cited as “The Federal High Court Practice Directions (On Trial of Terrorism Cases) 2022,” takes immediate effect.
