Senegal forward, Sadio Mane has said that he won twice against Mohamed Salah-led Egypt because his team had ‘luck’ on their side..

Mane scored the winning goal as Senegal qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup against Egypt on Tuesday.

During the World Cup playoff in Dakar, Salah missed a spot-kick, while his Liverpool teammate, Mane converted the deciding penalty after the match ended in a 1-1 aggregate. Egypt had won 1-0 in the first leg last week.

This was the second time Egypt faced defeat at the Lions of Teranga this year.

Recall that Mane had in February scored the winning penalty goal as Senegal won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, ahead of Egypt.

Speaking to ONTime Sports, as per KingFut, Mane said: “I won twice and he [Salah] lost twice, I was luckier to come out on top.

“I am very proud that we won the Africa Cup of Nations and now qualified for the World Cup, it is a dream I had.”

He added, “I believe it was a difficult game for both teams. Our fans pushed us to win and we didn’t stop fighting. We knew the game would not be easy, but we pressed to score.”
