Chelsea’s Rudiger reportedly sign four-year contract with Juventus

Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has reportedly agreed to sign a four-year contract with Juventus this summer..

The 29-year-old is set to be out of contract at the end of the season and the Blues cannot offer him an extension because of UK government sanctions placed on club owner Roman Abramovich.

Prior to the sanction, Rudiger had been rumoured to be considering a contract extension at the club where he has established himself as an exceptional talent since joining for £31million from Roma in 2017.

The defender has already been linked with moves to the likes Newcastle , Manchester United and Real Madrid but his future could be in Serie A come next season.

That’s according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Germany international has said ‘yes’ to a move to Juventus.

The report also claims Rudiger will sign a four-year deal with the Serie A giants as he prefers them over both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and he will earn around £5.4m per season with the Italian giants.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel admitted last week he fears Roman Abramovich’s sale of club could have an impact on negotiations with players who are out of contract in the summer.

‘The bottom line is maybe we can’t help it – it is what it is,’ Tuchel said. ‘You never know maybe it has a positive effect on the negotiations or maybe it has a negative effect.

‘We cannot predict and I would like not to predict on scenarios because you just lose focus, but everyone has a different situation and feels different about it (the sale).

‘I hope for the best outcome still, I think we have something to offer still. Chelsea are a strong club and will stay a strong club.

‘Our owner decided to sell the club but he sells a strong, solid, organised club at the highest level.’

Since Tuchel took the helm at Chelsea in January 2021, Rudiger has established himself as one of the world’s best defenders.

He played a significant role in the Blues’ Champions League triumph last season and their Club World Cup win more recently.
