He’s not coming back to Arsenal – Pennant names Aubameyang’s next club

Former Arsenal winger, Jermaine Pennant has said that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not returning to the club..

Pennant believes that the Gabonese will join Newcastle who are now in pole position to sign him this January transfer window.

Aubameyang was stripped of Arsenal’s captaincy and banished from the main team in December after being accused of disciplinary issue.

In his absence, Arsenal have won five games in a stretch while scoring 20 times, only losing to Manchester City on Saturday.

Aubameyang has since left north London to meet up with Gabon for the Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Pennant believes there may be ‘no coming back’ for Aubameyang to the Emirates Stadium.

He said Aubameyang won’t want to remain idle every weekend watching others play while he sits at home, adding that he would be hungry to play football.

“He’s a great player and he will want to showcase that. It could be a chance to get another big move off the back of that,” Pennant told Stadium Astro

“Getting stripped of a captaincy, there is not really much coming back from that. We know he is not going to be a starter, we know he’s not going to get much game time.

“There is every chance this Newcastle deal could come off for sure.”

While former Chelsea star, Tony Cascarino had warned the relegation-battling Newcastle against signing Aubameyang, insisting that the Gabon international will not provide the force the club need to escape going down, Pennant believes that Aubameyang is a professional footballer, who would showcase his ability no matter where he plays football.
