Senegal forward, Sadio Mane, has provided update on his head injury after being forced off in his side’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, round of 16 win over Cape Verde on Tuesday..

Mane suffered a clash of heads with Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha while contending for a high ball during Senegal’s AFCON 2-0 win against the Blue Sharks.

Vozinha was eventually sent off for the incident, just before the hour mark, after receiving treatment himself.

Despite the impact of the head clash between the duo, Mane was controversially allowed to continue and the 29-year-old gave Senegal their first goal of the encounter six minutes later.

Shortly after that Mane went down again holding his head, following a prolonged VAR check to confirm his goal.

The Liverpool star was then substituted in the 70th minute after being helped by his teammates and escorted off the pitch by the Senegalese medical team.

Providing an update on his fitness, Mane posted a picture on Instagram of him alongside Vozinha, with the captions: “Senegal vs Cape Verde in the pitch, in the hospital.

“Everything is fine, thank you all for the messages.”

Meanwhile, Senegal coach Cisse told reporters at his post-match press conference: “Sadio had a big shock with the goalkeeper and I have not heard from him yet, he was dizzy and he is currently in the hospital.

“We will have news later. I hope he is doing very well.”
