Deontay Wilder complains about Tyson Fury’s gloves ahead of fight
American boxer, Deontay Wilder, has complained about the gloves that British fighter, Tyson Fury, will be using for their trilogy fight in Las Vegas on Saturday night..
During the routine glove inspection on Friday with Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) officials, Wilder’s team raised concerns over the horsehair that is used as padding inside Fury’s gloves, which are factory-made by Paffen Sport.
Both Wilder and Fury have been given four pairs of the same gloves to choose from for the fight.
However, one glove from each set was cut open by NSAC officials in order to prove that legitimate padding was being used.

But Wilder is not happy with the use of horsehair and insists Fury is able to separate it if he pushes and squeezes his gloves together, which reduces the amount of padding.
“We had a little situation with the gloves,” Wilder told 78SportsTV.
“I already got word of some funny stuff going on in the back of the gloves.
“When I got into the room, I immediately asked about the gloves and was telling them about certain things that happened in the first event with his gloves being funny, how they were bending and folding, even showing certain clips of it.
“They [NASC officials] said they have been boxing for 25, 30 years. Everybody feels since they have been around it, they are some type of expert.
“But if you have not put a glove on and hit someone in the face to understand what type of damage it could do, or how mechanically a glove can work, it is 25, 30 years down the toilet.
“You can cut open a glove all day and look inside and still not know what’s going on.
“What happened was that Fury’s glove that he’s chosen, which is the same thing he had last time, had little to no padding. The rest of it was horsehair, we thought horsehair was illegal and out of the question, but they said it was [okay], so we said cool.
‘They opened up my glove and my glove padding is at least two to three inches thick. His glove looks like they have already been used, already folded, bent, like they have been thrown in the trash and got back out and say, ‘we’re gonna reuse these’.”
Meanwhile, NASC officials are adamant that Fury’s gloves are acceptable and meet its regulations for the trilogy fight
