The governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, has stated that electing a President from the North East will put a stop to the insurgency raging across the country.
On Thursday, the governor announced this during his speech at the 2021 North East Star Magazine awards..

Governor Fintiri, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Maxwell Gidado, predicted that the insurgency in the North East will stop within the first term of any candidate of North Eastern descent taking office.

According to him, former Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai tried his hardest to put an end to the insurgency, but his efforts only yielded minor results because the counter-insurgency activities did not have the full support required from the president.

“The Boko Haram insurgency will be wiped out in the first term of a president from the North East. It is a popular saying that he, who wears the shoe, knows where it pinches him. Lt. Gen. Buratai did his best when he was at the helm of affairs.

If he had been given 100 per cent support, I want to believe, he would have snuffed out the terrorists in Sambisa forest” Fintiri said
