Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari has reportedly been given until next week to come out and publicly address the allegations levelled against over his involvement with fraudster, Hushpuppi who is currently facing trial in the US..

This comes on the back of accusations by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI suggesting that Abba Kyari was complicit in Hushpuppi’s $1.1 million fraud deal.

Information gathered by Sahara Reporters through a reliable source revealed that the Inspector General of Police and the FBI’s representative talked extensively on the case on Friday and that Abba Kyari faces extradition to the US.

Abba Kyari’s name popped up as an accomplice to one business deal with Hushpuppi and he has been declared wanted by the FBI for collecting bribe from Hushpuppi.

The Commissioner in charge of Media on the board of the Police Service Commission, Mr Austin Braimoh, was engaged in a chat with the Punch where he stressed that the PSC would carry out a separate and independent investigation on the matter.

One of the sources said,

“The FBI detectives left when he (IGP) went for Friday Juma’at prayers. The FBI personnel were insistent and had a long meeting with the IGP till the close of work.

“Abba Kyari was given till next week to respond to allegations. The IGP agrees with them (FBI men) and assured that Kyari would not be assigned any new cases until the investigation was over.”

Another source added,

“During the meeting, the FBI insisted that IG must issue a statement confirming that Abba Kyari had been indicted because of his earlier Facebook posting mocking the FBI investigation.

“Kyari later took down the post but blocked the news media outlets that were critical of him.”
