Buhari regime abducted Nnamdi Kanu – IPOB Secretariat
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says the President Muhammadu Buhari regime worked with an unnamed East African country to abduct its leader Nnamdi Kanu..
In a statement seen by Peoples Gazette on Wednesday, Chika Edoziem, IPOB’s head of directorate charged members of the separatist group to remain focused on its fundamental objective.
Mr Edoziem also said that the identity of the East African country that worked with the Mr Buhari regime to abduct the group’s leader would be made known in due cause.
“The Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra wish to inform the IPOB families worldwide of the abduction of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian government working in evil alliance with an East African Country. We shall make the name of this country public in due course,” the statement by Mr Edoziem read.
Then news of Mr Kanu’s arrest was confirmed by the British high commission in Nigeria on Tuesday. The commission’s spokesman Dean Hurlock while confirming the arrest of Mr Kanu to Peoples Gazette disclosed that the separatist leader was not caught in the UK.
“We are aware of reports that Nnamdi Kanu has been detained in Nigeria by the Federal Government of Nigeria,” Mr Hurlock said in an email to the Gazette. “We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes.”
Prior to his arrest, Mr Kanu has been leading the charge for the actualisation of a separate nation for the South east region.
Despite being based abroad, Mr Kanu’s IPOB broadcast is widely followed by people from the South-East region both in Nigeria and the diaspora.
