National Youth Service Begins Administration Of COVID-19 Vaccine To Corps Members Nationwide

NYSC said that it had begun the administration of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to corps members nationwide.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, stated in an announcement sent to SaharaReporters, that the exercise is ongoing at the NYSC secretariats across the country.
He added that apart from corps members, members of staff were also not left behind.
SaharaReporters on March 11 reported that the NYSC had concluded plans to administer the COVID-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca, to thousands of 2021 Batch A corps members who are presently undergoing their orientation exercise across the 37 camps nationwide.
SaharaReporters learnt that the NYSC authorities had met with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja for approval and would also meet with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, a department of the Federal Ministry of Health for the modalities.
Speaking with SaharaReporters, the NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, had confirmed the plan to administer the COVID-19 vaccines to corps members.
Already, NYSC while giving out the pre-orientation briefing to the Batch A, Stream One corps members asked them to register for the COVID-19 test on its portal and take the slips to their camps for their scheduled tests.
The DG on Monday in an announcement stated that the vaccination exercise had kicked off.
He said, “In line with Management’s directive, adequate arrangement was made with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency for the successful administration of COVID-19 vaccine on corps members. The exercise is successfully ongoing at the NYSC Secretariats in the country. Members of staff were also not left behind.
“We sincerely appreciate the Presidential Steering Committee, National Primary Health Care Development Agency for the concern for the welfare of corps members.”
