“If You Fail To Treat The Surrendering Biafrans Well, Their Children Will Rise Up & Fight Again. “- Phillip Effiong, 1970
As I was going through my feeds on my Twitter app platform, I came across a very captivating tweet that has to do with the 1967- 1970 civil war and the recent happenings in the country.
A Twitter user with the name Somto Okonwo(@General_Somto), in a post on Twitter, made a stunning quote from the post- Biafran civil war which was made by the deputy to General Ojukwu.
Phillip Effiong was the second in command to Ojukwu during the Biafra era of civil war which lasted from 1967- 1970. He was the one who surrendered to the Nigerian federal troop after Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu had fled on an exile to the Ivory Coast.
Philip Effiong in regards to the causes of the civil war which was centred on marginalisation by the northern- led government which dominated the political structure of the country.
Effiong made a quote which by all ramifications and indications had never been headed to by the political elites from tome past to the present.
Nigeria is currently trending with the rise in agitations and insecurity which is part of the prophecies made by Effiong.
Agitations led by the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu leader of the IPOB and Sunday Igboho reflect the dwindling of Nigeria’ s unity and coherence. The agitations are centred based on marginalization, insecurity, and poor socio- economic development.
CLIP OF THE BIAFRAN WAR
Yes! Mr. Effiong a true elder you are. When Nigeria failed to heed such advice those children born during the genocide and after have come to fulfilling your warnings.
The ideology sold out by these two activists has been bought majorly by the youths in Nigeria. This has been reflected from the endsars protests to the breaking open of warehouses holding the COVID- 19 palliatives.
