A Nigerian Police officer who goes with the Facebook name Operative Ifeanyichukwu Nnuka has appealed to his kinsmen in the South East to stop killing innocent Police officers on the line of duty.
He made the appeal through a passionate letter he wrote and published on his Facebook with the title ” LETTER TO MY BROTHERS IN THE EAST: Stop Killing Us, We’ re Not the Problem of Nigeria”
The officer introduced himself as a graduate of Public Administration from Ramat Poly Maidugiri, Borno State, and that he is an Igbo man from Imo state.
He said that after graduation, he searched earnestly and couldn’ t get a job with his certificate, he decided to join the police, and he has grown to love his police work.
With his new job, he can now settle to a large extent some expenses in his family and even some friends as the need arises. But the problem now is people he refer to as ” Our brothers from the South East and parts of the country” are killing Nigerian security forces without provocation whatsoever.
The policeman said, I call on our brothers from the South East and other parts of the country to stop the killings of Uniform Personnel. We have dreams just like you. We have family members and friends that depends on us for survival. We are your brothers”
He appealed to ” his brothers” that they are all related and that the innocent police officers are not the problem of Nigeria; neither is their respective families’ part of the problem.
He advised the gunmen to locate the cause of the problem and go deal with it without endangering the lives of poor officers just trying to make ends meet.
Part of the letter read, ” We are not the problem, Don’ t add to the existing problem We are not the decision makers Their children are not part of that man at the Checking Point. Their children are not members of that Escort team or that person you see at the gate Keeping guard. (you understand the point now) Stop fighting the wrong people. We are just trying to make the ENDS- MEET. Look for the course of the problem and go for it genuinely. “
