When the public received the news that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has placed a N50m bounty on the leader of the pro- Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra in Rivers state, Stanley Mgbere, many people wondered what the crime of the young man is that such a whopping sum of money should be placed as a bounty on him.

For Governor Wike to be prepared to spend 50 million yen to arrest the young man, then it should be that his crime is heavy enough. Then the question is- what was the crime of this guy that he attracted such a huge bonus?

Under the declaration signed by the Commissioner of State for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, Governor Wike declared a premium of 50 million naira on Stanley Mgbere, as he would be the leader of the pro- Aafra group, the indigenous people of Biafra in the state.

In the report released by Edujandon.com Reporters, Governor Wike accused Stanley Mgbere of prominent members of the banned group IPOB for causing recent violence and the destruction of lives and assets in the Oyigbo Local Government area of Rivers State.

Many of us still recall what happened in the state of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers not too long ago, when there was a crisis involving IPOB members and officers of the Nigerian army which led to the loss of lives and destruction of property. Stanley Mgbere was reportedly the person who led the IPOB members to carry out these violent activities in Oyigbo.

Governor Wike is one of these governors who is very deliberate to make sure that IPOB is nowhere to be found in the state of Rivers. Wike had banned the activities of the banned group in the state, following the ban of the group by the federal government.

The IPOB group headed by Nnamdi Kanu does not recognise Nigerian sovereignty, which automatically makes them enemies of the Nigerian state.

In 2017, the government led by President Buhari banned the group and referred to it as a terrorist group, which means anyone who engages in the activities of IPOB would be considered a terrorist.

Wike is making efforts to ensure that Rivers State does not become a stronghold for the outlawed IPOB group.

So the truth is, you could become 50 million naira richer if you can help arrest this guy or provide credible information that will lead to his arrest.

Do you think that the 50 million naira premium that Wike has placed on Stanley Mgbere is too much, or that it is well deserved? Tell us your mind, and also share the story so that others can contribute as well.
