Manchester United Defender Eric Bailly Wants Answers From Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his Future (Details below)

Eric Bailly wants answers from Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regarding his future at the club as he continues to struggle to cement his place in the first team.

The 26-year-old has been at Old Trafford since 2017 but either through injury, form or competition for places at centre-back, he has always struggled to hold down a spot in the starting XI.

The Ivorian managing 11 Premier League starts in his first season at the club but has never topped that, with seven to his name this campaign meaning it could be his most fruitful for league starts.

Nevertheless, the Sun reports that Bailly is unhappy with his situation at Manchester United as he remains generally out of Solskjaer’s thoughts when everyone is fit.

Bailly started the goalless draw with Crystal Palace last week but was left as an unused substitute in the huge 2-0 win against Manchester City on Sunday, with Victor Lindelof partnering Harry Maguire in the heart of defence.

While they have come in for criticism as a partnership from pundits this season, Lindelof and Maguire remain Solskjaer’s first choice at centre-back and that is frustrating Bailly.

A source told the Sun: ‘From Eric’s point of view, he thinks he will only play now if Lindelof is out, irrespective of how he plays.

‘But he thinks that is the easy option and that Solskjaer can do it because he doesn’t like to kick up a fuss or start knocking on the manager’s door to ask questions.

If he was left out because he was making mistakes he would understand it but that’s not the case. Eric just wants to feel appreciated by the manager and the club.’

Bailly’s Manchester United contract expires next summer and it currently looks unlikely that the Ivory Coast international will stay at the club beyond that point.

Speaking earlier in the season, Solskjaer said he was pleased to have a fit Bailly available to him, but sounded frustrated at how little he has been available.

‘Eric is fit again, which is a big bonus for us and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop and play more games this season because we’ve been waiting for him to… well, first, be fit and then to play more regularly,’ said the manager in September.
