A video in circulation is causing a lot of uproars online, the short video shows a Fulani man addressing some people during what is believed to be a reconciliation meeting, he was speaking in Hausa language, the lingua franca of most states of Northern Nigeria.

He swore that it’ s the government (Though he didn’ t indicate which level of Government) that is supplying them AK 47 assault rifles, he argues that the Fulani man doesn’ t know guns, neither do they manufacture guns, all they know is cattle rearing but they government gave them the guns.

The Fulani herdsman said ” I swear to the Almighty God that the government is the one arming us. We Fulani don’ t know guns. We only know cows and how to rear cows. Cows don’ t give birth to guns, I swear to God, we just sat down and were supplied AK47 by the government. I am not afraid to say the truth. I attended Islamiya and when I finished my school we were given these weapons. I am wondering what I will do with my life now” . . .

This revelation by this particular Fulani herdsman may come to the general public as a surprise because on a good day the government is supposed to be seen to be working hard to disarm all non- state actors that are going about with weapons.

But since the video garnered traction online, Governments at all levels have not issued any statement to either deny any involvement in arming some of the bandits or taking responsibility for arming them.

Though the government of Buhari through its Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has ordered all security operatives to shoot at anyone that is seen with AK 47 rifle, any non- state actor that is wielding such a dangerous weapon should be shot at instantly, the statement from the presidency concluded.

President Buhari also, through his National Security Adviser, Babagana Mongunu declared a No- Fly Zone over Zamfara state because it alleges that some people use jets to bring arms to Zamfara bandits in exchange for illegally mined gold.
