Why Wolves defeated Arsenal 2-1 – Arteta

Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has said that his team lost 2-1 against Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday night because the red cards David Luiz and Bernd Leno got during the encounter changed the game.

Arteta explained that it was almost impossible for Arsenal to win the match against Wolves with nine players, adding that the Gunners players were really animated at half-time because they wanted to win the game..

Two goals from Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho gave Wolves all three points against Arsenal Molineux Stadium as Nicolas Pepe’s first-half goal wasn’t enough to give Arteta’s men a point.

“Of course it [the red cards] changed the game. If you play with 10 men for 45 minutes in the Premier League without a central defender against this opposition, of course, it changes the game. We tried,” Arteta was quoted by Arsenal’s official website as saying after the game.

“We were really animated at half-time because we wanted to win the game. The boys were so convinced about going out there and giving it a real go.

“We didn’t concede any chances, but Moutinho scored a worldie. It’s 2-1 and then when Bernd comes out and hits the ball with his hands, it’s a second red card, we’re down to nine players, and it’s almost impossible to win the game.”

Arsenal’s next match is against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday
