It was in the early hours of Wednesday that reports came through that Orlu in Imo state, was undergoing airstrike attacks from the Nigerian military forces. The motive was declared to be based on destabilizing the movements of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the stare. Eastern Security Network a vigilante group that has been recognized by the Nigerian government as a risk to the national peace and unity of the country.

According to reports, The airstrike was reportedly launched while executing a search on the hideouts of the Eastern Security Network (ESN). Some people’ s reports on social media revealed that there was an airstrike in Orlu and lives and properties were allegedly lost in the airstrike.


However, the founder of the Eastern Security Network and Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has responded to the alleged airstrike on Twitter. In the early hours of the Thursday morning, he allegedly took to his official Twitter page to confirm the action of the Nigeria armed force This was what he tweeted

“How does it make sense to send soldiers, helicopters, and ordnance to Orlu, because of Eastern Security Network, that does not kill or abduct Nigerians, and then send a parliament to reconcile with killer herdsmen, bandits and other terrorists that kill Nigerians?


The founder of ESN also shared a video accompanying the tweet. He also urges ESN to be brave and never back out of the fight as he also claimed that the battle is about to be won.

Pictures and videos from eyewitnesses flooded social media spaces, and soon enough, reactions began to follow from well- known Nigerians, many of whom have condemned the action by the military forces so far.

However, many Nigerians took to the comment section to react to the tweet,

My opinion: Let Biafra forget about all these agitations and embrace one Nigeria, there are a lot of things we stand to benefit from if we can drop the so- called agitation movement.
