FINALLY Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wins first trophy of managerial career with PSG … just 11 days after taking charge of Paris Saint-Germain (Details below)
Mauricio Pochettino has won the first trophy of his managerial career as Paris Saint-Germain beat Marseille 2-1 in the French Super Cup final.
After taking charge of the Ligue 1 champions at the start of the year, Pochettino has now won more silverware in 11 days at PSG than he did in his five years with Tottenham.
Mauro Icardi opened the scoring in the first-half, before Neymar sealed the result with an 85th-minute penalty.
Former West Ham star Dimitri Payet halved the deficit one minute from time as Pochettino finally broke his 12-year trophy curse on Wednesday evening.
The Argentine coach, who has also bossed Espanyol and Southampton, came close to winning silverware with Tottenham on two occasions.
Spurs fell short in Champions League and League Cup finals to Liverpool and Chelsea, respectfully, as Pochettino was sacked in November 2019.
Pochettino, who replaced Thomas Tuchel in the PSG hot seat, is yet to taste defeat in France with two wins and a draw from his opening three games.
He will be looking to add more trophies to his CV in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season. Pochettino has won silverware in just his third game in charge of PSG
PSG trail league leaders Lyon by one point with 19 games played, while they face Barcelona in the Champions League last-16 next month.
